The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Ontario is a community of marketing and business development professionals working to secure profitable business relationships for their A/E/C companies. Through networking, business intelligence, and research, SMPS members gain a competitive advantage in positioning their firms successfully in the marketplace. SMPS offers members professional development, leadership opportunities, and marketing resources to advance their careers.
As the only Canadian chapter of SMPS, SMPS Ontario is dedicated to creating business opportunities in the Canadian A/E/C industry. Our network of A/E/C professionals from more than 35 firms allow companies to tap into a powerful national and regional network to form teams, secure business referrals and intelligence, and benchmark performance.
History
In 1973, a group of professional service firm members recognized the need to sharpen skills, pool resources and work together to build their businesses. SMPS was born. The organization spread acoss the United States, and eventually, in 2008, a group of forward-thinking leaders formed SMPS Ontario to help the A/E/C community in Canada take advantage of the wealth of knowledge and resources created by SMPS. Our Past Presidents include notable leaders in the Ontario A/E/C industry from a diverse set of firms.
Today, SMPS represents a dynamic network of 7,000 marketing and business development professionals from architectural, engineering, planning, interior design, construction, and specialty consulting firms located throughout the United States and Canada. SMPS Ontario is comprised of firm partners, leaders, managers, directors and coordinators from more than 35 firms, including some of the most progressive and fastest growing in the industry. As the A/E/C industry keeps evolving, SMPS Ontario helps its members keep up with the changes and drive business value to their firms.

The Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) designation is designed to elevate professional standards in marketing. Our new Mentoring program offers opportunities to connect with A/E/C leaders and experts, learn from peers and share knowledge. Members recieve access to the larger SMPS network, including resources designed to cover current business development and marketing practices, issues, and trends.
